Game Idea
Here is a link to, how to create a basketball game that lets you throw basketballs into the hoop → Create a Basketball Free Throw Game with Unity. This is something compared to what I would be doing but it would be with rings and a starfish (possibly). This article by Carlos Yanez is a great step-by-step on how to create a game in Unity.
I am interested in two of my game ideas and I am not sure which one I like the best. I really like my apple game idea where a girl is chasing the apple and there are worms that are dangerous for the apple. There are obstacles in the way which would make the game more interesting. The possible game mechanics for this game would be obstacles, jumping, repeat pattern, chase, and game repeats when you die.
Some possible game mechanics for the starfish game that I would like to work with would be levels, time pressure, game repeating when you die, competition, and possibly game turns. I am hesitant to create this game after hearing my feedback but I do have a new idea which I am super excited for. The game idea is below.
Starfish Game
Rings
Oooooooooh throwbacks to Fruit Ninja, I like the vibe your going for in your game and that idea with the girl and the apple also sounds really cool :) I can't wait to see this take shape or what you produce in the future, you seem to really be into Unity tutorials and I admit I wish I could do more than I already do so I very much appreciate the basketball link!
ReplyDeletefruit ninja was one of the best games !!! Thank you 😊 I am into Unity tutorials but i get very stressed when i miss something in the instructions and then the whole game doesn’t work :(
DeleteThis was a good read! It's good that you're able to think differently and have really contrasting game ideas. I agree with Jack my first thought was Fruit Ninja when reading about Starfish Popper! Having read your game vision statement already it's cool to see where your idea has evolved and developed from here!
ReplyDeleteI'll be checking out the basketball tutorial over the next few weeks!
OMG fruit Ninja was my favorite game! Starfish Popper is a really nice name for the game idea. I like how we are supposed to pop the starfish with the color that appears on the screen but have you considered to like adding time so as to make the game more challenging; therefore, the player can pop certain amount of starfish in a given amount of time. I also suggest to make the wrong starfish that the player pops explode like a bomb to make it even more interesting and appealing to the kids with sound effects. Only one thing I am curious about is what button is the player going to use to pop the starfish. Overall, I like the idea and how made it your own by changing the fruits into starfish and I am sure you will do a great job in designing it so can't wait to play it.
ReplyDeleteI really like how you included that link in the beginning it looks very helpful. Is there more articles/ tutorials you have looked at it for when you will begin to make your game??? I like the idea with the worms but I personally don't like worms so I would definitely connect with the game as it would be a horror game for me lol. I feel like you should not include the game repeating when you die because losing all the progress can frustrate the player and they would be unmotivated to repeat the game again. Perhaps you can add checkpoints?? Personally I feel like your strongest point is the starfish game and it would be less complex. For this idea I feel like the game repeating is a good idea. The feedback really enchanced your starfish idea I really connect with it as I loved Fruit Ninja when I was younger. Awesome work keep slaying!!
ReplyDeleteHi Milena I really like your blog post it looks like you put a lot of very good research into making your game. I really like the idea you came up with to have a game like fruit ninja. I used to play fruit ninja so much growing up it was so fun. I feel like this game is very accessible to a wider audience so that's great. I also really like the idea of having to focus on only one specific colour I think that is an interesting aspect. I feel like this Game would be very addicting and would make you want to play more and more.
