Reading 12

This week is our final week. I am so happy to finally finish everything. This semester has been a long but good journey and I have learned a lot. I do like 2D game design better because I think it is easier and just more understandable. I learned about referencing and how to paraphrase sentences and how to write a book, awesome right?  I enjoyed writing but not the research part. I think next year we will have lots of writing up to do so it will be useful.

Project Progress : Alpha and Beta

Image
Alpha and Beta  I can't believe I am saying this but wow I am nearly done. My birds (enemies) are flying on the right side as they should, my bird (character) is cooperating perfectly with the arrow keys and the sky is still the same blue and yellow colour. This week I have added a counter on the screen as you can see in the image below. Once you press play the birds start moving and the counter goes off and starts counting. If the player collides with the enemy "Game Over" pops you and the game is over. If you would like to retry and get a higher score you simply press "Restart" and the game restarts. I am very happy with how everything has turned out. The other week my whole game was ruined because of a coding mistake and I was about to give up, not even joking.... I think it is important to have each step written down because honestly restarting was so difficult. This semester I found the 2D much easier and I am happy with my game idea. This game is simple a

Reading 11

Reading 11 This week I worked a little bit more on perfecting my chapter. Last week I took a very long time rewriting everything and paraphrasing my whole chapter so It took me fewer hours this week. I am finished with writing my chapter and I am delighted with how it turned out. I was never the biggest fan of writing and the reason I chose this course was that it was all about creativity and learning new skills but after this semester I feel like I enjoy writing more. This task taught me a lot about writing and reading articles. I never enjoyed reading but I did learn a lot over the past year. I learned more about why games can be good for you, yes good for you :) I don't enjoy reading academic papers. Finding articles and useful information is very time consuming too but I learned how to divide my time and use it wisely.  Next year I hope to become even better with my writing and hopefully learn more cool things.  Writing is a hard job............... image found on https://www.p

Reading 10

Reading 10 For this week's reading task we had to finalise our chapter in the book, create illustrations and create a bio. I started off by finishing my chapter and perfecting my grammar and sentences. I worked on my graphics in illustrator. I decided to add a "strong brai" illustration and a "light bulb" to represent learning new skills into my graphic. I found this other image from Pexels.com which is a website that allows you to use their images for free. This image illustrates high ability to shoot targets in people who game which is written in my chapter. This shows the positive effects of gaming.  my own image Bio  Milena Baikova is a 20-year-old student studying Creative Digital Media. Milena enjoys designing and working on new

Project Progress : 1st Playable

Image
1st Playable  This is my first playable. This week I figured to change my enemy to a bird that is just a different colour. I added many birds but I just have to flip them to fly the other way. So far I have added the birds to multiple as they fly along so that when the game is finally done, you as a player will have an obstacle to over take and that obstacle will be the birds flying towards you. I am going to add a counter on top of the screen so when the game begins you will see the numbers go up. I decided to add a game over to my game too.  So far it has only been stressful because of all of the other modules and the amount of work. This week I edited my chapter for a very long time to perfect it so I wouldn't have to keep changing things around. I feel like this game will be fun to play and it also has an obstacle which is always a fun factor to any game.  Last Weeks progress screenshot of my game This Weeks Progress screenshot of my game I am happy with how everything is goin

Reading 09

Reading 09  This week I spent over 5 hours altogether on my reading task because I wanted to polish up all of my grammar , make the sentences longer and have the reference complete. I am happy with how I spend my hours this week because it means I will have less to do the next week. I found this task easy to understand and rewriting my whole chapter was sort of fun and relaxing. I used Thesauras to rephrase my sentences which made them sound better and it also made them longer.  I enjoyed reading other people’s chapters too and see how everyone writes their paragraphs and learn more about gaming!

Project Progress : Prototype

Flying Birdie   I have started creating my Unity game. So far it is going great and I am getting the hang of it. There are many great assets in the asset store and also a lot of tutorials online with full explanation on everything. I have found a bird asset in the asset store and added it to the game. I have added a background that moves so it looks like the bird is flying through a moving sky. I have found some clouds to add but I think I will be moving them. As the enemy, I have this little green guy so far but I am not the biggest fan of him so I will most likely be changing him too. The scripts are not difficult because we did many Unity tutorials on different things like movements, colliders and all sorts of other things. I have added an audio file too but for some reason, I can't make it work. I will be working on the audio and I will try to find tutorials to make it work, also I will be changing my enemy to possibly a different coloured bird.  This project is easier than la

Project Progress : Game Design Document

Image
Game Design Document After writing the game design document I understand more of what my game will be and what steps I need to take in order to start creating my game. My game is going to be made in Unity and the player will move with the arrow keys on the keyboard. The game is called "Endless Birdie" and it is an endless runner game. The player's mission is to get away from the birds flying towards them.   I am happy for any feedback because I would like to see what people think about my ideas.  Feel free to check out my document and leave me feedback.
