Alpha
The Alpha
This week we had to create the Alpha for our game. I have gone through many steps and following these tutorials to help me with my game.

Screenshots of my own game
This week I have finally created a raycast that shoots out white balls as you can see in the last image and the cannon moves with the arrow keys to where you want it to move. I have created a whole galaxy by adding all of the galaxy sheets into a new material and giving each elements its own background.
The galaxy is now a whole word and not just a block of background with blocks all around. The balls shoot out of the cannon but they do not make the other balls explode yet so I have to work on that but so far I am very proud of all the work I have put into the game and following all kinds of tutorials online and following different codes found online which (I could never do just out of my head). My colourful balls do float all around the atmosphere and they look like planets passing by which is pretty cool I must say.
For the next steps I am planning to add (possibly) more planets for some sort of decoration and like more balls that are just passing on and getting the cannon balls to collide with the other balls.
I am also trying to find a tutorial to add some sort of timer to make the game look more realistic. I would like to add some explosion effects and particles and some sound effects like swoosh or passing by of the balls.
Congratulations on reaching the Alpha stage of your game Milena! I absolutely love the space aesthetic and the visual design of your game. I think the first person view of the cannon shooting out into space looks awesome, it kind of reminds me of the classic DOOM games from the 90's, I can't wait to see how well it controls when shooting at those small balls in the distance. I feel your game really captures what a video game is supposed to be, which is just fun gameplay and cool visuals, which your game looks to have loads of. I think you really nailed the whole look of space, fair play creating a ray cast to show the bullets leaving the cannon, I'd say that must have been a time consuming task, best of luck with adding those explosion effects. I can't wait to give your game a go as it looks really cool, best of luck again!
ReplyDeleteHey Milena!
ReplyDeleteReally good work getting this far, you've made some absolutely amazing progress so far! I'm loving the space theme you have going on here, it's really impressive that you've been able to implement little changes each week to get where you want regarding the world. The addition of the raycast for the canon is really cool and really adds to the awesome aesthetic you have going on.
Thanks for linking the tutorials you followed, I'm creating a similar game myself and these will really come in handy! Good luck :)
Hi Milena really like the design of the game looks brilliant I really like the idea of the game and looking forward to seeing it play. The game and visuals as well as the mechanics look really good and cant wait for the finished game.
ReplyDeleteHi Milena I really like your game looks like you put so much work into it and looks very fun to play. I really like the colour scheme and also the landscape that you have created the space theme is so cool and it's also cool how you made it to be a world and not just backgrounds. I really like the canon it is very cool it also sounds very professional how you're going to make them explode when they hit each other. I feel like adding the other planets would be very cool as I think it would add to the atmosphere nicely. Overall I really like your game and good look with the rest of it.
