Reading 08

Writing  Introduction and a conclusion is something that is important because it allows the reader to get a short insight into the topic that will be discussed. A conclusion is results of your finding and even opinions. It sums up everything and finishes your points which is very important in writing.  This week I wrote an introduction and a conclusion in my topic.  My word document Screenshot taken by me I found the introductions more difficult than the conclusions. There were many introductions I did not like and had to change but over all this weeks reading task was beneficial for my future writings.

Book chapter Throughout this week, I have began to redraft and implement some changes in my topic . It was very beneficial to have someone read my chapter so I could get feedback and see what changes I can make. Having someone critically review your work makes you see a different perspective. It helped me correct spelling and grammar mistakes and make my piece more formal.  It was interesting to read about the other topics from my peers. Svetlana's and Lukes topics were very interesting for me and it was fun to find out new things about gaming. Writing Link to image: https://www.pexels.com/search/writing/

Tutorial 07

Unity  This weeks tutorials were "Audio" and "Build, Run, Distribute".  A game without any audio would not be a game in my opinion so it was really fun to learn how to do that and I will for sure be adding music into my game. It was not difficult to add music and I found it fun to play around with the sound. The script was not difficult either.  The last part of this tutorial was a little more difficult because there were more steps. Adding the player and having the game full screen. The build settings were something I was familiar with from last semester but I will for sure need to know that for my own game. Running the game was fun and I am happy to be done with these tutorials so I can finally start my own game.  Happy :)  Link to image : https://www.pexels.com/photo/silhouette-photography-of-group-of-people-jumping-during-golden-time-1000445/  Free to use

Project Progress : Vision Statement

Image
Projects: Vision Statement vision idea/design document     In this document, I will be expressing my idea of my game. I have decided that I am very interested in the game that would be called something like  “Endless birdie”. This game has similarity to flappy birth except the obstacles are birds too. The genre of this game is 'endless runner'.   The gameplay starts of with a bird flying in a beautiful sky background with possibly some magical stars and a background filled with trees or some ground. At the top of the screen there will be a counter showing you how long you could last not dying. There is fun music playing in the background to help you conquer the birds that are flying towards you. The birds that are flying from the right side of the screen have one motive and that is to get in touch with you and collide so you die. If by any chance you hit the bird flying towards you, you die and a big sign pops up saying "game over" and you can restart the g...

Tutorial 06

This week Unity tutorials were on  Visual Styling – User Interface – Head-Up Display  and  World Interactions – Dialog Raycast  . This week I learned how to apply a canvas to make the view clearer when playing. It was fun to learn how to add health to Ruby and learn the interface. The first tutorial was a little difficult to follow but I made it. I still don't understand everything clearly but I know some of the parts. The second part was really fun. Creating the canvas so that the frog would communicate in the game was cool because in my opinion the game comes to life with dialogues.   The only difficulty I had in this tutorial was one of my scripts was missing some information that I forgot to paste back and then the game wouldn't work and I was confused why that happened but then at the end of the tutorial there were all the scripts so I just copied and pasted all of them again and it worked.  When my scripts worked image from https://www.pexel...

Reading  In this weeks reading task I learned a lot of useful tips and writing skills for my own topic. I learned that it is important to write paragraphs and having a short sentence at the start of each paragraph on the topic findings and then proceed to explain what I have found and always reference back to that. It is also important to not repeat yourself constantly but back up any facts that you find. My opinion wont matter and I have to keep remembering that because I have to find real facts and explain what I have learned. It will be important to demonstrate my ability to learn and write about what I have learned.  I find it difficult to not use "I" when writing because I am used to writing about my opinion on every project that I do. It is also difficult to write paragraphs since I am not used to them but I practiced and I am much more confident now.  Reading my readings  Image found on https://www.pexels.com/photo/white-ceramic-teacup-with-saucer-near-tw...

Unity  This weeks Unity tutorials were on  Camera – Cinemachine  and  Visual Styling – Particles  .  I learned about perspectives in the game. How to connect the camera to the character so that when you move the camera follows so it feels like you are in the game yourself. I learned how to add polygon colliders which I have never worked on before.  In the visual styling particles tutorial I learned about effects. I learned how to add particles such as smoke, adding different textures and how to animate them. I learned how to add gradient effects so it looks more realistic in the game.  This weeks tutorials were something I have never worked on so it was fun to see what else Unity can do. The effects were my favourite part of this tutorial.   Writing down tips found on https://www.pexels.com/photo/person-holding-pen-writing-on-white-paper-5756753/  Free to use

Project Progress

Project Progress Week 6  This week is all about brainstorming game ideas. I am very interested in creating a "endless runner" type of game where you have to dodge the enemies.  I was always a fan of Flappy Bird and how you needed to get through the tiny spaces to get further into the game.  Here I have some ideas of games that I came up with. My favourite one would be a endless runner type of game with a bird of some sorts. I would like the bird to be flying in some sort of sky background with maybe stars, some tress, something else in the background and then some enemies attacking from the front. Brainstorming screenshot of my miro board Here is an example of a game that I would like to create. The bird as you can see is a character so you could control it with the arrows on your keyboard and the bird would be flying in some sort of sky background with maybe stars or something like that. I would like there to be a different coloured bird as the enemy coming from the othe...
